How do I properly pronounce the Arabic letters that don’t exist in my native language?

Answer: Each Arabic letter has a specific point of articulation (Makharij) in the mouth or throat. Practice in front of a qualified teacher is essential. Using audio recitations, mirror practice, and repeating slowly helps train your tongue and throat. Focus first on the letters you find most difficult, like ع (‘Ayn), غ (Ghain), ق (Qaf), or ط (Ta).

What are the rules of Madd (prolongation) and when should I apply them?

Answer: Madd means extending the vowel sound. The main types are:

  • Madd Asli: natural lengthening (2 counts)
  • Madd Far’i: conditional lengthening (4–6 counts)
  • Rules depend on the letters following the vowel, pauses, or stopping at the end of a verse. Learning through examples and repetition is the best method.
